Going, going...gone!

We are leaving for Cape Cod this morning for some much needed R&R. There are sure to be plenty of stories and pictures to post when we return next weekend!

Boys will be....uhhh, boys?

So, I left the boys with a friend so that I could run some errands and get some things ready for our trip this weekend. When I came back...

Yep, still cute when dressed up in costume jewelery!

Dad, Dad He's Our Man!

I feel very lucky to have some wonderful dad's in my life.

Because this is officially Matt's third father's day, here are three things I love about Matt:
1. He never complains when I tell him we are having cereal for dinner AGAIN!
2. He is friendly to everyone and is genuinely interested in what others have to say.
3. He is the best father to our boys, and the best husband a girl could have!

Happy Father's Day!

Some notes on the other dad's in my life...

My dad
is the greatest. I have tons of great memories of my childhood with my dad. My favorite would have to be our trip to Disneyland. It was so much fun to spend that one on one time together (even if it was a bribe!) My favorite memory of my dad as a grandpa is the time at the cabin when the kids were laughing at the bubbles. Pops was video taping and when we played back the video you can hear just how hard he was laughing at how funny the kids were! That is one contagious laugh! Love you Dad!

My favorite thing about my Grandpa Griffin is that he still calls me Kris. He is the only one who calls me that and I love it. Grandpa has a wonderful sense of humor and even in difficult times he always keeps people laughing. He is also a whiz at crossword puzzles...I guess those things really do keep your brain young!

I have only known Russ (Matt's dad) for about 7 years but one thing I know about him is that he would do absolutely anything for his kids. He is so thoughtful and generous. When we lived in Denver, Russ would cook WONDERFUL meals for us and enjoy them with us. We sure miss living close and miss Russ' famous pork chops!

Imagine going to the airport the day before your wedding and meeting your new in laws for the first time. It would be an understatement to say that I was nervous. However, all of those feelings melted away when I met Theo and Mike (Matt's Step dad). Mike is one of the friendliest people I have ever met and welcomed me into his family with open arms–what a blessing. He is also so smart, always has good advice and someone you always want to have on your trivial pursuit team! Can't wait so see you next week!

Cold, very cold.

Let's just say that the mom's were cold. And we were dry. The kids ran through the fountain in their clothes and had a blast. They were very disapointed when we insisted they dry off because they were turning blue! Check out a video and some pics on Lexi's blog...

Kids Having a Blast!!

Frogs, salamaders and worms...oh my!

Today we went to the Plainsboro Preserve. It is about 1000 acres of open space with trails, lakes, trees and wildlife. Thanks to our friend Henry and his daddy, the boys got to catch frogs from a pond, salamanders from under logs and rocks and worms wherever they could find them!

As we walked along the trail, I spotted a toad. Mark caught it, only to discover that is was, in fact, a one-eyed toad. We were thinking of bringing it home and trying to break into the lucrative profession of witches brew supply. If only we had found some eye of newt!

Beach Boys

Mason has become a major fan of the Beach Boys. He has learned the words to the first two songs on the greatest hits album and can now barely make it into the car without asking to listen to Surfin' Safari.
We headed out to the shore (for those of you west coasters that is the beach in jersey speak) for some fun in the sun last weekend. It was a great day of splashing in the waves, building sand castles, and hiding our picninc from the beach police. Yeah, you heard me...the beach police. Who has ever heard of a "No food on the beach" rule? Well, clearly, some rules are made to be broken and we enjoyed a delightfully stealth picnic anyway.
My three boys officially LOVE the water and their mother loves to sit on the sand and watch them love the water!

Summertime, and the Livin' is Easy

We are so happy for summer. For us, it means lazy (albeit early) mornings in our jammies, days at the pool, visits with family, picking fresh strawberries, and of course, naked potty time.

What's Cookin'?

So, it seems I need a baking intervention. Somebody stop me, please. I have not cooked a decent meal since the weather turned warm, just look at Matt whithering away to verify that statement. However, it seems that treat making has taken on a life of its own.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Blueberry Muffins

Strawberry Rhubard Crumble

Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies

Umm, time to get back on the ole diet.
