We have forgone the "behind the couch, in front of the messy bookshelf" pose of years past and opted for "outside in front of the wildly growing shrubs".
Mason cheerfully headed off to his first day of kindergarten yesterday. And I made it through the day tear-free. I was super proud of both of us!
I decided to start a new tradition this year. I am going to take a quick video of the kids each year on their first day of school. I am excited to look back in many years and see how much these sweet kiddos grow from year to year!
Stay tuned for Ollie's first day of preschool, coming Monday!

That was so cute and a good idea, I wish I had pulled out the video camera, I am still kicking myself for not. I can't believe our kids are 5 and off to school.
Holy Moly.....I AM ABOUT TO CRY just thinking about it. HOW DID you STOP yourself?!?!?!
He looks like such a big boy.
Way to go
Mason! You look like a real school boy. We wish we could have been there to welcome you home.
Love, Grandma Girl and Pops!
congrats on the big day! mason looks so so cute in a really grown up 5 year old sort of way!
Way to go for both of you! What a fun adventure for him and some "one down" free time for you!
Such a cute idea!!! He looks like he is ready for anything...watch out Kindergarten!!!
Love Mason's hair...no one will mess with him...you never mess with someone who has a mowhawk;)
On his next interview, please ask him what he's going to be when he grows up. I want to know what he aspires to be. He should have a good handle by now. Last time I asked it was something like, "Be in a lab." Who in their right mind...
you must have done a really good job training mom. she is quite the blogger! great job. and to use an appropriate mom quite "wonders never cease"
wait a minute - they get to drink drinks??? things have changed so much since we were in kindergarden.
I can't believe how grown up these boys are. Mason was just a cute red-head at church with lots of energy that we all adored! And now!?
